PIPE TRAIL PEDESTRIAN CROSSING, GLEN WAVERLEY
MR FREGON (Mount Waverley) (19:06): (5874) My adjournment matter this evening is for the Minister for Roads and Road Safety. The action I seek is for the minister to join with me at Glendal Primary School in my patch to pass on the fantastic news to grade 5 student Vincent Ng and his schoolmates that $870 000 has been allocated in the 2021–22 state budget to construct the pipe trail pedestrian crossing, which he wrote to me about in 2019. Vincent personally wrote, as I said, back in 2019 requesting that this pedestrian crossing be installed to help kids like him across Highbury Road safely. We are now putting it in the intersection of Highbury Road, Sevenoaks Road and Newhaven Road. I know that the member for Forest Hill and I share Highbury Road and border it, so we are connecting ourselves with a little pedestrian crossing. It was Vincent’s wish to have this project completed, and I am excited that as part of the Andrews Labor government’s $6.1 million investment to improve walking and cycling all over the state this upgrade will make it easier and safer for local families on our roads and cycling paths and make Vincent’s wish a reality. I look forward to the minister’s response.
