Constituency Question- Mount Waverley Ambulance Station

Mr FREGON (Mount Waverley) (12:58:39): (1317) My question is addressed to the Minister for Ambulance Services in the other place, and I ask: what is the status of the new Mount Waverley ambulance station which will service my constituents in the Mount Waverley district? I was very pleased while driving down Waverley Road the other day to observe the demolition of our old and tired Waverley ambulance station. I took the opportunity to stop and have a chat to Shaun and Paddy, who were working hard on the job. Since we have come into government the Andrews Labor government has invested a record $1 billion in Victoria’s ambulance service. This is more than double the previous Liberal government, funding 1000 paramedics and 35 new and upgraded ambulance nations. I do note we took one ambo away, with the member for Melton now here. Our ambulance workers are a great source of pride in Victoria, and I cannot wait until we can let them and all of my constituents know of this exciting development.

Minister’s Answer:

I am informed that:

In 2019, eight new ambulance branches have been delivered by the Victorian Health and Human Services Building Authority to help support Ambulance Victoria’s essential work.

As you referenced, demolition of the existing Waverley branch is now complete. I am pleased to confirm that a builder has now been appointed to deliver the new ambulance branch and works will begin in the coming weeks. The target completion date is late 2020.

I would like to thank the member for his ongoing advocacy and commitment to improved ambulance service in his electorate.
